About KSC

Hi, I'm Cathleen Gordon

And I can't ever just sit and do nothing. All these crafts have to go somewhere! When I'm not crafting, I'm growing orchids, road cycling, camping, vegetable gardening and riding my Harley. Told you I can't sit still. It's a problem.

Jewelry

Knot So Casual started as pandemic therapy when I began crafting knotted satin cord jewelry: bracelets, anklets and necklaces. The majority are made from 2 mm satin cord and feature button knots and snake knotting. I love taking inexpensive plastic, wood, and base metal beads and making them look deceptively deluxe. Other materials include:

  • Genuine semiprecious stones like sodalite, Amazonite, and onyx
  • Stones I tumble myself, often from Michigan beaches (Lake Superior agates, quartz)
  • Beads made of glass, bone, acrylic, Lake Huron driftwood, ceramic and more
  • Vintage beads from old jewelry

Sometimes I acquire beads that don't accommodate satin cord, so I occasionally make wire-strung necklaces. I also make earrings and sun catchers to use up leftover cord and beads. I never make the same thing twice, so every piece of KSC jewelry is one of a kind. Follow KSC on Facebook.

Crochet

Crocheting is knotting too, right? I love to make afghans, and now you can purchase them here. All afghans are made of easy-care acrylic yarn. Just machine wash and dry on a gentle cycle.

Books

Yep, I write too. It's been my main profession in different forms since the 1990s (LinkedIn). Longer ago than I care to think about, I self-published my first literary fiction novel, The Hart & Horn. Now that I'm retired, I'm hoping to finally get to those follow-up novels.
